The client approached me about designing a stylized rendition of a Mind Flayer: a hyper-intelligent, squid-like monster with a craving for brains. Symmetry was important to the design, as was keeping the design legible at the small scale scale.

When the client told me they needed a symmetrical design I knew instantly I wanted to use the tentacles to frame the shape of the head. I created a few ideations on a sketchpad before finding one I was happy with. The translation from traditional to digital was less than smooth however, and multiple adjustments were made to acommodate the scale of the stickers. After creating the lineart version and getting the green light from the client, I added the colours, ensured all the details could be seen at the desired size, and sent the finished file to the printers.
